Starting from a phenomenological conception of corporeality and especially from the neo-phenomenological theory of the felt body elaborated by Hermann Schmitz, the research project “Dancing the relationship. The felt-bodily experience of dance between improvisation and performativity” primarily aimed at analysing the bodily experience of the dancer during the phases of learning, training and staging of dance performances, with particular attention to the phenomenon of improvisation in contemporary dance practices (such as Contact Improvisation). We also aim to investigate the felt-bodily experience of the viewer of contemporary dance performances and, in this way, to enhance the link between performativity and felt-bodiliness within the art of dance.
